THE STORY OF THE MAİ SERIES AND THE FOOD CULTURE OF THE PERIOD Turkish cuisine is a very special cuisine that has been influenced by many different cultures throughout history, blending these influences with its own unique culture. While the term “Turkish cuisine” largely conjures up images of Ottoman palace dishes, the true foundation from which Ottoman cuisine was nourished was Seljuk culture. Because the Ottomans had a commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of the lands they conquered, they also inherited the legacy of the largest state in Anatolia at the time, the Seljuks. Turkish culinary culture continued to live on in the Ottoman Empire. As Ömür Akkor puts it, “Turkish cuisine is actually a culture unto itself. From Central Asia to the Balkans, Turkish cuisine has had an influence everywhere the Turks have passed. Turkish cuisine is more than just food; it is a culture.” Always striving to add variety and character to its product lines, Karaca has created the new Mai Series, this time drawing inspiration from Turkish traditions and culinary heritage. It has reunited 1,000 years of Turkish culture and culinary traditions with a modern interpretation.
